Providing full wrap-around overnight support to parents. When they aren’t doula-ing you can find Kira in their happy place by the beach and ocean.

The birth of their first child was their initiation into birth work. Kira was in shock at the lack of information and support provided about early postpartum from their midwife, birth doula, family and friends. They made it their personal goal within their community to hightlight/uplift the postpartum experience, which eventually guided Kira toward postpartum centered support care.

Madeline (Mads) Mellinger (She/Her)

Additions
: Cooking
Servicing: Brooklyn, Manhattan

Mads is a postpartum doula and dance artist based in Brooklyn, NY. Born and raised on a multigenerational goat dairy farm in Pennsylvania, Madeline’s work in both the doula and dance world is focused on community and the pursuit of collaboration and reciprocity. She is passionate about supporting and empowering women and birthing people in this tender and beautiful stage of parenthood. Mads’ most joyful moments are found in a sweaty dance class with friends, looking for the perfect rock at a beautiful body of water, playing board games with her mom, preparing a delicious meal for people she loves, and getting settled into a lovely camping spot. After many years working as a babysitter and nanny for various families and children of different ages, as well as doing postpartum care for family members, she felt compelled to work more closely with parents and babies in their postpartum journey.

She witnessed the gap in support and care for the birthing partner once the baby arrived and felt inspired to tailor her work to be more directly involved with the postpartum period. She believes in supporting the whole self: body, mind, and spirit. She has experienced the power of a listening ear, a nutritious meal, and an uninterrupted nap—there are so many ways she can support parents so they can support one another and their new addition to their family!
